1968 TVR Vixen

This 1968 TVR Vixen required a fair amount of custom fabrication. The engine had been mounted to the Chassis without the body installed,  the engine had been mounted to the chassis with small tabs landing directly  onto the tubular chassis with no cap to distribute the load... this may have resulted in the chassis cracking or failing, both headers were very close to the fiberglass body and the driver side header was contacting the steering shaft. Another fabricator damaged the driver side header attempting to make clearance but neither issue was resolved. I restored the driver side header to its original design, designed and fabricated engine mounting tabs which strengthened and tied the chassis together and capped the upper tube with a stiffening plate to spread the load and vibration & raising the engine an inch to make the needed clearance and this resolved these problems... I also fabricated a custom alternator bracket to give it better support and ease adjustment as well as  sorting several other issues while the vehicle was here...

Nissan 350Z Drift car chassis protection added after crash.

This 350Z backed into a barrier at a drift event and came in for a tube rear reinforcement and bash bar. I had to cut off the mangled Sheetmetal and then fabricated an upper bar from one inch tubing to latch the hatch onto and support the bumper cover and tail lights, used 1.75 .120 wall tubing for the main structure and 1.5 .120 wall tubing for the bash bar .. all of which tucks nicely into the stock bumper cover. when building chassis protection like this it is important to reinforce the chassis while offering energy absorption. it is important to not transfer all of the force of impact to the chassis reinforcement and chassis. this is why different size tubing was used ... I was told by the client that his test was to have five men stand on the bash bar and jump up and down ....

1964 Chevy Nova Transmission tunnel repair 


This beautiful 1964 Chevy Nova came to me for a check over, a few repairs and drivability issues ... During the check over I found that the transmission tunnel had been cut out to fit a large Tremec five speed transmission and that the installer had loosely attached a piece of Sheetmetal over the transmission with self tapping screws and covered it with carpet where it would not be seen. The Sheetmetal cover was rubbing the transmission transmitting Noise Vibration and Harshness to the chassis. The tunnel is an important part of the unibody's support structure and had been damaged ... I cut and welded in material to get a symmetrical opening and fabricated a new transmission tunnel from heavy gauge sheet metal and stitch welded it in , primered and seam sealed the top, primer, painted and seam sealer was applied to the bottom returning the needed structure to the chassis ... subframe connectors were also added for additional rigidity ....

I used 16ga sheetmetal  for tunnel which I cut on my 4X8 CNC plasma table and stitch welded it down 

After welding everything was wire wheeled, primed and seam sealer applied ...

Quality is important whether you can see it or not ....

the transmission was removed and the  underside was wire wheeled, primed , painted and seam sealer was applied after the new transmission tunnel was completed. my hope is that my repair will last at least as long as the chassis does ...

Complete turbo kit BMW E30

It was my pleasure to turbocharge this Beautiful 1987 E30 325I. This vehicle got a Megasquirt2 plug and play ECU with a custom JSP tune. Hand built 3 inch mandrel bent 304 stainless exhaust system and custom intercooler setup ... I fit the biggest intercooler I could keeping the air conditioning. The turbo is a T3/T04E with an 76mm exducer compressor wheel but makes full boost around 3500RPM. The car is very well mannered and on 10 PSI of boost did 13.5 in the quarter mile .. its now running 15 lbs of boost ...I also installed a 3.73:1 limited slip differential, resolved some suspension issues and installed polyurethane bushings out back and custom trailing arm reinforcements to stiffen the rear suspension

Jak Stoll Performance 400 WHP E30 Drift car "DRIFT MOBILE"

this is my 1989 BMW 325I making about 400 wheel horsepower it has a fair amount of custom fabrication and modification 

BMW M20B27 ETA short block which has copper orings fitted to the deck . It has been fitted with forged connecting rods and ARP rod bolts, using the late I cylinder head for good flow, 272 degree camshaft, heavy duty cast rocker arms, GTX3076R ball bearing turbo with 48mm external wastegate utilizing excellent wastegate priority welding the wastegate tube directly to the turbine housing Now running ECU Master EMU classic engine management.  it is now coil near plug ignition, both the injection and ignition are run fully sequential .. ( was batch injection and distributor ignition)

Recently completed heavy bodywork on "Drift Mo" Very happy with the results 

in the middle of last season I was in an accident on track I pulled it out enough at the time to continue with the Drift Season but I love the car and do not want it to deteriorate and be wasted... I replaced the left rear quarter with the inner and outer wheel houses, shock tower and all the structure ... I took my time and fit it up properly ... I stitch welded all the structure and plug welded all the spot welds which were removed ... great care had to be taken while removing the damage from the car as to not damage the chassis... the panel behind the rear seat and the trunk floor were dollied out to meet the new panel and everything met up very well ... 

the damage was really deep.. it took a fair amount of work to get the vehicle functional

I was able to pull the damage out enough for the vehicle to continue drift season 

I chose where to cut the vehicle and quarter, cut things a little long and whittled until I had tight weldable gaps 

I have a couple of trim pieces on the way and a little bodywork to do on the other side and then its off to paint :-) it went together so strait that the door and trunk gaps were perfect, the door did not even require adjustment to close properly ..

1996 BMW 325I Drift car roll cage

here is an example of some of my tubing work.. all notches were carefully cut and fitted

every weld connection was chamfered and carefully welded to the root. 

the cage was fit tightly to the body to make maximum room in the car and reduce deformation of the chassis in an accident 

base plates are custom fitted to the contours of the floor for maximum contact area 

Large base plates or added strength tubing is welded to vertical surface for added strength 

all notches are precisely fitted for maximum strength, precision alignment of tubing  

600 BHP SAAB 2.3 SWAP

I ran the M20 to about 450 wheel horsepower for several years but started having trouble with cylinder heads cracking (five last season) so I went back to my roots and built a Saab 2.3, 4 cylinder which will support 700 ft lbs of torque. I bought a PMC motorsport adapter to my ZF320 transmission and flywheel but all other fabrication, wiring and tuning I handled here at JSP
